THE JOURNEY BEGINS...

Jesús Galindo was born in a small town on Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mexico, in January 1967. He was brought by his parents with his family to Woodlake, CA, at the age of six months. He was raised in a small agricultural town of 5000 people. Jesús was among a family of 10, working the fruit orchards as a migrant farmworker. He studied hard in high school and got good enough grades that Jesus received a grant at an art college to study film. This was the beginning of his dream to tell stories through motion pictures.

So off he went to the San Francisco Bay Area. For an 18 year old, going to a huge city, was both scary and exciting. LIFE AND FILM SCHOOL EXPERIENCES jesus galindo biography

Jesús moved to Oakland, CA where he studied at a private college, California College of Arts and Crafts. He accomplished a few short Super 8mm films at that college. He then moved to San Francisco, where he attended San Francisco City College. At the City College, he finished a some short film projects, gaining more filmmaking experience.

In 1996, Jesús moved to Los Angeles to further his filmmaking passion. He enrolled at Los Angeles City College and after years of taking comprehensive cinema courses, he received an Associate of Arts degree in the Cinema Program. While at LACC, Jesús completed two 16mm short films and a digital video short shown in various short film festivals in the Los Angeles area. He wears many hats, as he has worked on all aspects of the filmmaking process. Feature Film - EL DERECHO DE JESUS / THE RIGHT OF JESUS

Jesús completed his first independent feature on HD, EL DERECHO DE JESUS - THE RIGHT OF JESUS. This feature is a character-driven, non-traditional drama about a Mexican-American college student trying to overcome relationship and family issues with a twist. It was accepted in three film festivals in 2008 - Beverly Hills Film Festival, New filmmakers New York, and Orlando Hispanic film festival and was well received.

Thinking positively, Jesús decided to re-submit EL DERECHO DE JESUS-THE RIGHT OF JESUS to several film festivals in the last few years. His feature film was selected and won various awards. The first few Official Selections began with The Orlando Hispanic Film Festival in 2008. The first award was at the 2011 Columbia Gorge International Film Festival in Vancouver, WA. His feature film became an Official Selection and eventually won the JURY AWARD. EL DERECHO DE JESUS - THE RIGHT OF JESUS won a second award as it obtained the AWARD of EXCELLENCE at the 2011 LOS ANGELES MOVIE AWARDS (I).

Even though his film began its film festival circuit in 2008, Jesús once again decided to test the film festival waters in 2017-2018, in which his feature film went internationally and won an award in 2017 Brazil International Film Festival and finally made it to European soil. Short Film - SAVE THE PLANET

In May 2011, Jesús Galindo’s film, SAVE THE PLANET, was accepted into two film festivals along with ADDICTED attended a festival in Las Vegas, NV, for the Vegas Cine Fest. Both films enjoyed festivals nationwide. The first festival was in Columbia Gorge International Film Festival, shown in Vancouver, WA. The second is from the 2011 American International Film Festival. Jesús won several awards, including Best Comedy Short as Best Director, Best First Time Director for SAVE THE PLANET, and Best Movie Shot on Zero Budget (under $1K). The festival was held in November 2011. In 2012, SAVE THE PLANET became an Official Selection at the 2012 Vegas Cine Fest in Las Vegas, NV. SAVE THE PLANET won its first film festival award at the 2011 BLUE SNOWMAN FILM FESTIVAL in Canada. Short Film - ADDICTED

ADDICTED, was Jesus first attempt to direct a film written by someone else. He chose Jose L. Mendoza, Jr. to write a quirky dark comedy about an unusual addiction. The subject matter was also a first as this was Jesus first attempt at directing a comedy.

ADDICTED is a comedy short film about dealing with the realities of life in an unusual way. Frustrated by life's mundane routines, Jose, a white-collar worker, has an obsession that takes him down a path of sheer joy, or so he believes. And although the pressures and monotony of his work life and the boredom of his personal life are bearable, he looks forward to escaping every night with his secret passion.

Short Film - ALL TRICKED OUT

In 2013, Jesús filmed the sequel to Addicted, All Tricked Out. In 2014, it was released and became Official Selections at two film festivals, NewFilmmakers NY, in New York City and at the 2014 Columbia Gorge International Film Festival in Washougal, WA. Jesus had a lot of fun directing this film with talented actors,

Ever so the trouper, Jose continues his adventures shortly after the revelation of his addiction. Six months later, he's down on his luck and does whatever he can to keep his sanity and dignity.

Short Film - REWAKENED / RENACER

To describe the journey that Jesus Galindo embarked on next, one has to introduce Alberto Hernández. In 2014, Jesus met a local artist, Alberto Hernández, through a mutual friend. Alberto is an artist, a painter, a sculptor, a creator of art installations, a landscaping designer and a filmmaker. Being that he is a visual artist, moving into motion picture art was a natural path for him to take, Alberto has a ability of observing details and circumstances and putting an artistic spin in all of his art projects and endeavors.

Alberto mentioned to Jesus that he had written and directed a feature film called, REWAKENED / RENACER. As Alberto was describing the film project, Jesus became very intrigued and asked to see his film. Alberto indicated that the original intent for his film was to be a feature film but that his strategy was to first do a short film to introduce the world of REWAKENED / RENACER. At that point in time, there was a rough cut available and offered Jesus the opportunity to view it.

After seeing Alberto's short film, Jesus felt a deep connection to REWAKENED / RENACER and wanted to be a part of the production. This provided an interesting challenge to Jesus as the short film was nearly complete. This would be Jesus first experience in jumping on board another production to help advance REWAKENED / RENACER to get it to film festivals. Jesus believed in the films message and originality that the audiences would also connect with Alberto's visionary film. And connect with audiences and film festivals it did.
